Enter the RAINBOWCUBE and step into an elemental weather world of inhalable poems, secret waters and messages, fluttering scents and warmth-activated material objects. London-based artist Becky Lyon presents I’m Weather Under the Feeling inviting visitors to explore ‘weather’ as a condition of both inner and outer states, a noun, a verb and an adjective. Journeying through multiple rooms, visitors will connect with ecology as a method of processing and stabilising in times of chaotic and uneven internal and external climates. Visitors will physically interact and intra-act with artworks, becoming an intrinsic component of them and transcending language through sensory experience and ritual. The works on show combine residues from Becky’s previous shows and new works generated in the company of Seoul’s ecology.

Becky Lyon is an artist working at the intersection of art and ecology. Her art practice dwells in the sticky places between sensing bodies, tactile processes and the touchy-feely, earthly curriculums, power relations, word-world building; softness and slippery edges as rebellious strategies; intimacy and concrete-ologies. She is interested in art practice as a tool for forging renewed relationships with ecology which she tunes into as a “sourcebook” for co-flourishing in times of ruin. Her work manifests as installations, rituals, photographic objects, handmade moving images and text. She is founder of Ground Provisions – an artist-led, schooled-by-the-forest for grown ups and the Squishy Sessions research collective. She has an MA Art & Science from Central Saint Martins and an MA Art & Ecology from Goldsmiths University of London. She is a volunteer London National Park City Ranger. She side-hustles as a consultant and trends researcher for global brands.

숨을 들이마시도록 해주는 시, 비밀을 담은 물과 메시지들, 흔들리는 향, 온기로 움직이는 사물들로 이루어진 날씨의 세계로 입장하세요. 런던을 기반으로 활동하는 예술가 베키 라이언의 전시 《I’m Weather Under the Feeling》은 관객들이 ‘날씨’를 내면과 외면의 상태뿐만 아니라 명사, 동사, 형용사로 탐색해 볼 것을 제안합니다. 여러 방들을 둘러보면서 관객들은 마음이 혼란스러울 때나 내면과 바깥 날씨가 불일치할 때 이를 안정시키도록 도와주는 생태와 연결되게 됩니다. 또한 감각 경험과 의식(ritual)을 통해 언어를 초월하여 작품의 내적 요소와의 상호작용은 물론 내적-작용(intra-act)을 경험하게 될 것입니다. 전시작품들은 작가의 대표작을 비롯하여 서울의 생태를 탐구한 신작으로 구성됩니다.

베키 라이언은 예술과 생태의 경계에서 작업하는 예술가입니다. 그녀의 작업은 감각하는 몸과 촉각적 지각 그리고 그대로 드러난 세속적인 절차들, 권력 관계, 언어가 구성하는 세계 간의 까다로운 장소들에 머뭅니다. 이러한 탐구는 저항의 전략으로서의 부드러움과 미끄러지는 가장자리들, 친숙함과 콘크리트 세계에 대한 탐색(concrete-ology)을 포함합니다. 작가는 폐허의 시대에 함께 번영하기 위한 ‘자료집’으로서 생태와의 관계를 갱신하는 도구로 예술적 실천을 해나가는 데 관심을 가지고 있습니다. 작가의 작업은 설치, 의식(ritual), 사진적 오브제, 직접 촬영한 무빙 이미지와 글로 나타납니다. 베키 라이언은 성인을 위한 숲교육 ‘그라운드 프로비전(Ground Provision)’과 리서치 콜렉티브 ‘스퀴시 세션(Squishy Sessions)’의 창립자입니다. 런던 센트럴 세인트 마틴에서 Art & Science 석사 학위를, 골드스미스에서 Art & Ecology 석사 학위를 취득했으며 런던 국립공원의 레인저로 자원 봉사를 하기도 합니다. 또한 글로벌 브랜드의 컨설턴트와 트렌드 연구원으로 활동하고 있습니다.
